DJ Mercury

Early life
Hunter Glassford was born and raised in Naperville, IL in 2002
"Music has always been a form of mental transport for me; if I can achieve that for just one person with my tracks or my sets, it's worth it."
DJ Mercury never fully found where he felt at home in music until discovering electronic music. He had tried guitar, three years of theatre and musicals, as well as three years in band, but none of it scratched his creative itch.
He began DJing in 2020 during covid, learning from Phil Harris's tutorials to get started. Once in college, he became ingrained in the local Madison music scene through Liquid's DJ Summits, and has remained a staple of the local Madison scene ever since.
First Releases
Shortly after beginning DJing he took up music production in 2021, receiving instruction from other local producers, like Blaze Orange and Phrequency. This collaborative learning approach led to his first release, Don't Wait, being signed to Pharaoh Phonix Records and charting on Beatport's Top New Bass House Tracks of June 2024. He followed this release up with another bass house track, this time collaborating with his mentor Blaze Orange with NSFW which was also signed to Pharaoh Phonix Records.
Career
On top of a successful start to his production career, DJ Mercury has held a residency at Liquid, Madison for the past four years, having opened for some of the largest names in dance music, like Chris Lorenzo, Max Styler, and Valentino Khan. On top of this, he also has a Thursday night residency at Madison's famous State Street Brats, mixing sets that infuse his house music passions with modern pop music. He is also a member of the house music collective Pantheon, who have been throwing shows in the Madison area for two years, and also sold out a yacht party in Chicago.
